Setelah microsoft sukses dengan Windows-7 nya untuk PC, kini giliran Windows Mobile yang diupgrate ke Windows Phone 7. Saat peluncurannya (Oktober 2010), juga diperkenalkan 10 jenis atau tipe posel cerdas (Smartphone) dari empat vendor (Samsung, LG, Dell, dan HTC) yang telah menggunakan OS Windows Phone 7. Kesepuluh tipe smartphone tersebut, yaitu:
